It has been one year since I last shared with you a chapter from my book, brimming with excitement and feeling as though the finished product was right around the corner. Re-reading through that blog post is comical to me, knowing even better just how difficult it can be to make this dream into a reality. Even now, this novel still requires many more hours of editing, but it is as ready as I know how to make it on my own.

Like I said last year, my original goal was 230 pages. But as of today, the content of this book sits at 483 pages! That is about 142,000 words, insane!! I cannot believe where God has taken this story within the last year and I am so excited to share with my incredible support system what my next steps are in getting it published.

This coming Sunday, May 29th, I will be heading to the Blue Ridge Christian Writer’s Conference just outside of Asheville, North Carolina for five days. I will be joining with over 600 other writers in the Christian realm who are all in different stages of their journeys. This conference will give me a chance to take workshops, meet with agents, editors and publishers. This is a HUGE opportunity to pitch my book to people who are in the publishing world, people who can take me one step closer to achieving this goal!

I would so appreciate your prayers as I attend the conference next week. There will be hundreds of people, tons of classes to choose from and so many new things to wrap my head around! Please pray with me that God would lead me to just the right people, and that I would have COURAGE and CLARITY to pitch my book well.

Really though, despite the nerves I am in awe of what Holy Spirit has done to get me to this point. Even the circumstances behind how I found out about the conference is a wonderfully orchestrated detail that has reminded me of God’s mighty hand. I gave him my little seed of a story and he nourished it, shaped it and pruned it into something I am extremely proud of.

I have a 500 word summary of my novel, an attention-grabbing pitch and a stack of business cards ready to hand out to agents. This is what I have been slowing working towards for three and a half years. Thank you all for going along this road with me, just a little bit further now!
