They say it’s not about the destination, but the journey along the way. WOW. All I can say is what a journey it was. Our team learned so much about each other, ourselves and God on the old Inca trade route used by natives only (and for good reason.)
Some of the lessons I learned include:
Purifying my own water (future racers, dont bother buying an expensive water purifier)
Avoid getting your shoes wet at all costs, you will pay for it later.
It’s not the mosquitos you should fear, it’s the flies…they’re vampires.
Get a walking stick as soon as you can, it will save your life.
There’s a bond that develops when you are literally depending on your teammates for survival.
I can do anything through Christ who strengthens me.
Psalm 121: 1-3 “I lift up my eyes to the mountains-where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip.”
I’m on the edge of my seat, wanting to see and hear the remaining part of this story!
I am so thankful God is in charge, and you are all safely back from the jungle, but tell me more!
Sending my love.
Molly
Wow…What an incredible experience you have had! I can’t wait to hear all of your stories. Just a couple weeks ’til we see you in Santiago! ?? I love you,
Mom
Always a joy to read of/see your adventures and what God is teaching you along the way…
Before you return to the USA think about what you want your “standard of living/parameters/guidelines for living” to be when you return. What have you learned that you ALWAYS want to remember? What are the “treasures” along the way that you don’t want to lose sight of when the “World Race”, as you’ve known it over these past months, is finished? (“Life’s Race” will still go on…) “Live life with a due sense of responsibility; not as men (and I’ll add, women) who do not know the meaning and purpose of life, but as those who do. Make the best use of your time despite the difficulties of these days.” (Eph 5:15-16; J.B. Phillips transl) — One of my husband’s and my “life verses”. Blessings on you and your team!
Wow this is intense! The clip of the tiny trail hanging over the edge of the cliff petty much gave me an anxiety attack. Thankful God kept you safe!!
An exercise in determination, for sure! Nothing will ever feel like much of a challenge to you after that trip! God is using you and filling you with strength to carry out His plan for you and the others. So thankful that you are all safe and well!
Too good, Emily! I always want to ask each racer, “What is the most challenging aspect of the Race?” You answered this! It is everything. It seems to change each hour for you all. We cheer with you as you conquer each day and as you seek what God has in store for you. Thank you for taking out the adventure part and allowing us to really taste what you have to face. It is surprising to me that you can appear to be on the edge of exhaustion but still find enough energy to keep all of us informed. May God bless you and keep you!
